Dual-Stage Control Strategy for a Flying Capacitor Converter Based on Model Predictive and Linear Controllers

This article proposes a novel dual-stage control strategy for flying capacitor converter. During transients, the proposed scheme applies finite-control-set model predictive to drive system close desired reference, including all known nonlinearities of in converter model. When state is neighborhood controller switches pulsewidth modulation based linear with an integral action. In this case, reformulated its feedback form. Thus, internal states can be updated on actual input applied by controller. allows achieve smooth transition when commuting between controllers and zero-steady-state error even load parameter errors are present.
